Returning to Work
Jenny was facing the common anxiety of preparing to return to work after taking a maternity break. A year immersed in motherhood had left Jenny feeling apprehensive about returning to work and leaving her daughter in childcare, albeit part-time. Jenny contacted me to clear the build up of emotions so that she felt stronger would feel calm on her return to work a fortnight later.
Despite securing a highly sought after childminder, Jenny felt anxious about leaving her daughter in someone else’s care three days a week. So as well as clearing anxiety about leaving her daughter with the childminder, we also dissolved feelings of guilt to clear this aspect as well as fear and jealousy about potentially missing some of those ‘firsts’ as her daughter developed from baby to toddler.
Once we had cleared all the emotional issues relating to childcare, we turned our attention to the matter of confidence and self-belief. We cleared feelings of intimidation about returning to the business with a new unknown manager and her anxiety about getting up to speed on the aspects of the business she was responsible for.
Finally, we looked at Jenny’s changing role as she became a working mum and created a structure to ensure that she balanced her time more effectively between family, work life and time for herself.
A single session was all Jenny needed to clear her anxieties and feel together with a structure for her return to work. The last time we spoke Jenny had been back at work a couple of months and was settling into her career and really making the most of her time as a mum too.
