Long Labour

Amelia found my site by chance when researching postnatal issues. Amelia wanted help to clear emotions which had troubled her since the birth of her daughter a fortnight earlier, concerned that left unresolved, they might trigger postnatal depression.

Following Amelia’s initial consultation, she attended one session to clear the negative emotions troubling her since the birth of her baby daughter. Amelia explained how she had hoped for a home birth and ended up with a hospital delivery. Her labour had been very long and intermittent progression and in hindsight, she realised that this was due to anxiety and tiredness which precipitated her transfer to hospital where she had an unwanted induction and epidural to aid the birth of her baby.

Whilst Amelia’s birth experience wasn’t what many would label as traumatic, it did blight all her hopes of having a home birth and as a result, a mixture of negative emotions were starting to surface. These emotions included anger at not succeeding at home as planned, frustration and intimidation when cajoled into transferring to hospital, feeling trapped when she was on the induction IV and feelings of guilt at failing to achieve a drug free birth for her baby. We also cleared emotions of sadness and loss which are common when women feel they have been robbed of the birth experience they wanted.

Once we cleared all these pent up emotions Amelia was looking and feeling much happier. She was also demonstrating that all important objectivity and acknowledgement for how well she had coped with her fear of hospital environments and a terror of epidurals.

Amelia tackled her emotions early on which lifted her emotional state and prevented anything from developing further. I often encourage expectant mums to consider a short session post birth when the birth experience is still fresh in their minds, rather like an emotional MOT to check for any sabotaging thoughts so that they can be dissolved before they have a chance to seed themselves and cause havoc at a subconscious level. This single therapy session made a significant difference to Amelia and she has gone on to bond well with her baby and enjoy early motherhood.
